Wednesday, October 6 - continued

1 through 4: Working from the front of the older section of the building (Photo 1), the Komatsu breaks down a considerable portion of the back side as it continues toward the high west end in the evening. It appears that the old first floor Departmental office is getting filled with rubble from above.

5 and 6: A couple views of the aftermath as seen from the parking lot

Thursday, October 7

7 and 8: The upper two floors of the newer section continue to be stablized in preparation for their careful removal (which will be seen in the next couple pages). A massive collapse that could damage the power substation underneath is thereby prevented.

9 through 11: Revealed in daylight, we see results of the previous evening's work.

12 through 14: "We're building a road" is the word as recently-deposited rubble begins to be sifted, sorted and cleared away from the growing gap between the older and newer sections of E. B. Fred Hall.

15 through 20: The high west end loses some of its support. The ground-floor lobby and an old familiar stairway reveal themselves as functional only in memories.
