This one-credit course covers the biology of microorganisms and their involvement in agriculture, food science, infectious disease and technology. Included are an introduction to cellular biology and discussions of bacteria, fungi and viruses. Laboratories introduce basic techniques of microbiology for observation, growth and identification of microorganisms.

Grading System: 100 points for attendance; 5 points deducted for each session missed. 100 points divided between mid-term exam and final exam (dates of each to be announced).
Lectures are accompanied by Lecture Outlines in handout form. A Laboratory Manual (or equivalent) is provided in two or three installments for the laboratory. A detailed Schedule for lecture and lab topics should become available soon.
